I was cycling at approximately 43 km/h towards the roundabout when a van driver (a tradie) observed me approaching and incorrectly attempted to pull out in front of me, apparently assuming they could do so safely before I arrived. This was incorrect and resulted in a dangerous and illegal manoeuvre under the Road Code.
This behaviour occurs regularly at this location. I do not use the adjacent cycleway because drivers frequently fail to comply with the road rules at the raised crossings and attempt similar manoeuvres when I am crossing there.
Note: I have a large front loading cargo bike with a bright light at the front, as well as bike jacket etc. So, motorists cannot argue they do not see me.
